I agree with Dr. G.  Just bought a Toshiba 9" TV/DVD that has both DC and AC
power.  I have tried to run it on DC on several occasions.  To say the least
it is "touchy".  Hard to get started on DC.  Then it shuts off suddenly and
sometimes makes a clicking noise for a while before stopping.

The same unit powered by AC through my 700 watt invertor runs faultlessly.
I now only use DC as a direct power source for appliances when I absolutely
have to.
