Dave. The self adhesive or double sided tape will not hold the door gasket on 
very long. Contact cements don't work much better. The idea is to "bond" the 
gasket to the metal. When properly done, should you try to remove the gasket, 
it will tear but not release. Car door gaskets are put on that way. 3M 
"Super" weatherstrip adhesive does the job, the right way, the first time. 
The regular 3M adhesive is not nearly as effective as the "Super" stuff.
