[VAC] Re: tire clearance

Joy, I would concur that you should check the
condition of the axles--although I'm still not clear
on where the interference occurs.

Awhile back I was fretting about my axles and
then--duh--I thought "why not ask Airstream." Who
knows, maybe they know a thing or two about this ;)

A nice gentleman at AS told me that 5 degrees past
horizontal was the limit for the pivot arm rotation.
I got under the trailer with my handy angle gage and
went to work. No problems.

A similar call to Henschen put me in touch with
another very helpful gentleman. His job was to SELL
axles. He told me that replacement is seldom
required. Although he'd be happy to sell some more,
he said he doubted that I actually needed them.

If you don't have a gage, first check to see if
they're obviously less than horizontal. If they're
more, than spend a few bucks at the home improvement
place for a plastic gage. It comes in handy for
cutting odd-ball angles when woodworking.
