[VAC] H&H High Torque Jack

Dave-
I recently rebuilt the jack on my '64 Globetrotter. While I'm sure
it is not like yours, It may be similar inside. Mine is not electric either.
But, it was not a bear to break it down all the way and rebuild it. I
removed it from the A-frame using an impact wrench. Being a manual crank, I
had to drill & drive out the pivot pin that held the handle on, then slip
the whole thing apart. My guess as to the main failure was lubrication, and
yes I found it quite dry inside on the screw threads, with some wear
showing. I cleaned out the threads well with a wire brush, then reassembled
using plenty of axle grease. The top had a couple of large washers to bear
the weight- I greased them well also. I think I caught it before too much
damage was done to the threads from forcing it up & down repeatedly.
good luck with your project.
