Rick, 

For me, the simplest solution was take it out, take it to the hardware store
and see what they had in stock. Upshot was I bought a plug, screwed it in
and eliminated the weeping valve. So far, I've seen no disadvantage with
this interim solution.

Not being satisfied with that, I carry around the old parts. Sooner or
later, I'll find a match and install it back to the original configuration.
