[VAC] Re: Pressure Water Systems & PEX

Thanks guys, this is all good information.

It seems my worries about maintaining pressure with PEX are unfounded,
though there is a lot of good food for thought here about pressure,
flow, and scalding showers. :) I find it strange that 3/8" PEX fittings
are more expensive than 1/2", so I'll let that be the deciding factor
and go with the 1/2". I found a reasonably inexpensive source for
Flare-It PEX fittings at http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/, in case
anyone else here is considering this. I have no affiliation, just
bargain shopping. They're charging about half of what one of the local
RV dealers here in Phoenix is asking. Please feel free to let me know
off-list if anyone knows of a less expensive source.

Right now I'm trying to put together a plan for routing the new lines,
and determining which fittings I'll need. I'm stumped by the water
heater though. It looks to me like the fittings on my older Atwood/Bowen
10 gallon water heater are 13/16" threaded fittings. Am I looking at
this ruler incorrectly, or are the in/out lines to the water heater
really this size? Seems like they should be 3/4" MPT fitting. Also, for
the day that I have to replace this water heater, does anyone know the
size of the fittings on new Atwood water heaters?

Thanks again for the feedback everyone, hopefully I'll be able to take a
shower someday soon.
