Perhaps polishing the clearcote with a product such
as Walbernize will do the trick. The regular use of Walbernize is recommended to
help extend the life of the clearcote. It worked wonders on the soot stain
by my hot water heater. Tried many other cleaners to no avail. Since then
the heater has been properly adjusted and the soot problem is gone.
