I suggest you try the local Target store for a small Shop Vac... cheap, 
plenty of suction and lots of stuff available to get into cracks etc...The 
size makes it easy to store and you can hang the hose and tips in a bag and 
hang the bag from the clothes rod in your closet...We burned up a couple of 
Red Devils and an electric broom before seeing the light...

Hokeys ( push powered sweeper) are great for quick pickups of crumbs etc.. 
used by most restaurants...for those that haven't tried it for tile, the 
Swiffer line of stuff is the current rage..I saw a wet unit with an 
attached bottle at Sam's ...
