[VAC] Re: elp with floor rot

Snip: I recently removed the toilet in my '68 28' Ambassador rear bath
and found that the floor was totally rotted out around the flange. The
metal flange around the plastic ring sealing the toilet to the tank is
essentially gone.

Hi Pete, I had a similar problem on my 67 GT. The plastic flange on my
black water tank is solvent welded and the metal ring was all but rusted
away. I purchased a pvc toilet flange with an aluminum ring and cut the
ring in half. Then I just slipped each half of the metal ring under the old
plastic lip and screwed it down to the floor. When you cut the hole in the
new plywood floor for the "plastic sealing ring" just make sure to cut it
just slightly larger than diameter of the plastic so you have a place to
screw down the metal ring. Hope this helps. Dave H.
