[VAC] Tue 11/06 - Time well spent

Hi Airstreamers,

This morning, Parkview Airstream showed me the water inlet spout from their
inventory. Close but no cigar. It had a component part that might (with a
little ingenuity) be adapted to mate with my broken spout. I bought the part
($10) and will consider creative options over the next few days. In the
meantime, the water fill hose that came loose from the broken water fill
spout is tied off and covered to prevent dust from entering the water tank.

While at Parkview, we signed up (paid $65) for the April 12, 13, 14, 2002
Company Rally at the Fairground in Smyrna. In past years, the rally has been
filled to capacity by January. After that, registrations were returned.
Also, I volunteered to help with rally parking on the 11th or 12th.

As an aside, the Rest Area directly across the street from Parkview has a
dump station. In my opinion, it is better designed than most. The $2 fee
went begging as no one was on duty to collect it.

For those with an interest in fuel prices, we found $1.05 in New Jersey at
the intersection of US 206 and I-295 beside the big truck stop. Next, we
found regular gasoline for $.97 a gallon at the Maryland/Virginia border
south of the Nice Bridge on US 301 at Dahlgren, VA and at Fredericksburg, VA
on I-95. At this rate, we're predicting the price per gallon in Georgia will
be $.87 cents.

Tonight, we're at the Presidential Resort west of Fredericksburg (Coast to
Coast $6) with a full hookup site and direct line of sight to the satellite
for TV. Hurray. There is modem access in the Registration Building
available 24 hours a day at no cost. For the last 12 years, this park has
been one of the most predictable, no nonsense and competently run resorts
we've visited. They have about 2,000 campsites with most individually owned.
A few families appear to be living full time in their RVs.
