[VAC] Trans Temps

Hello again,
I want to add that my trans gauge sending unit is installed before the
cooler and I put it there so I could get a true idea of how hot the trans
was. I felt that putting it post-cooler would not.
I did see about a 45-55 degree drop in the temp with the cooler and that
shows me that bigger is better as most trans coolers are much smaller
that mine and they could not possibly do as good a job. My cooler is
rated for a 28,000 lb vehicle load and is the largest one you can get. My
load on it is around 13,000 lbs. I sorta expected it to cool too well but
that has not happened.
The hottest it has ever got was around 280 degrees going up Grapevine
Pass at the height of summer. The trans fluid I use is Mobil 1 synthetic
and it's flash point is higher than that. There were many, many cars and
trucks stalled on the way up due to the intense heat and load. I did not
falter due mainly the 8 core radiator that I had made for my truck.
I did have to turn off the A/C which makes me think that next time I do
that I will mount a 12v water pump and a 2-3 gallon water tank to mist
water on my radiator.
Talk to Ya Later,
Mike
