Jerry,
Much of what you note below doesn't quite add up.  You should have 110v 
at the outlets no matter what the Univolt is doing.  The Univolt on '68 
Caravel doesn't charge the battery.  The Univolt will hum when it's 
working. I guess what's really important is once you verify you really 
have 110v to the trailer, what does all the 12v interior lights do?  
With the power center switches set to "City Power", do they come on?  
What about when set to "Battery"?
