Electric brakes were standard since the '40's, you had to pay extra to
get Hydraulic Brakes (go figure),  In 1957, the year of my Flying Cloud,
it was a $10 extra option.  The last year I know of Hydraulic Brakes
being offered was 1963(4?).

Now we spend money to convert back to electric....
