[VAC] Re: Copper pipes seem non-standard size



I don't agree. The outside of copper tubing is what you connect to
whether flare or solder. Rigid copper is about 1/2" inside, though it
depends on whether its type K, L, or M which means different wall
thickness but always 5/8" outside diameter. The vintage Airstream may be
plumbed with flexible copper which does come in more sizes, but not at
1/16" increments. Copper expands easily when frozen gently. That's why
we find copper a bit oversize. The proper fix is new pipe because once
expanded its work hardened and will split more rapidly the next time the
pressure is raised by freezing.
