[VAC] Re: 1957 Custom / newbie questions

The most common 22 foot long trailer is the Safari which had twin beds
in the back with a small drawer unit between them. The front sofa had
three drawers which, when pulled out, supported the base of the sofa.
This slides out and the back support comes off and fills the gap to make
a bed (arms slipped off). The beds in the back and the drawer unit were
built over the storage bin accessible from the outside rear (usually
held a spare tire and sewer hose). There were hinged plywood supports
for the twin bed's mattresses that gave more storage room under the
beds. You had to lift the mattress to then lift the lid. I will see if
I have photos of the couch and the twins in my 55 Safari. I'm sure the
couch was the same, but there may have been minor modifications in the
'57 twins. It is possible to put a double bed across the back if you
prefer and you may want to put a dinette up front that makes down into
another bed. These were options in the 50's. If the bathroom was all
the way to the back, then you had a Caravaner (I think) with a double
bed streetside in the rear almost snug up against the toilet compartment.
Have I confused the issue sufficiently?
