[VAC] Dutchman in Dallas

Dear VACList members,

Thank you for all the information I got from receiving your list. I have
been reading your messages for the last 4 months. Special thanks to Cecil
and Jill. Although I have never seen my Airstream yet, I have a pretty good
idea about where problems may occur! I bought my Safari 1966 in January 2000
and it has been waiting for me ever since in Marfa Texas. I happen to live
in the Netherlands, you see.
At the end of this week I will come over with my wife and two daughters to
the US, pick up the Airstream in Marfa and bring it to New York. From here
the trailer will be shipped to the Netherlands.
Our trip will look as follows: Coming Sunday July 29, we will be landing in
Dallas in the afternoon. Here we will have to buy a car  (Chevrolet Pick Up
with an extended cab?). Than we drive to Marfa and pick up the trailer. Than
we travel to Big Bent National park, San Antonio, Austin, Davy Crocket
National Forest, New Orleans, up Mississippi to Memphis, Nashville,
Knoxville, Columbia, Raleigh, Richmond, Washington, Philadelphia, New York.
Our plane will leave from New York on August 29.
We would love to meet some of you Airstream people along the road. If there
is any rally or meeting planned during August, please let us know.
If there is anybody near Dallas that could give us some help with getting
started in this other part of the world, we really would appreciate that.
(Or with buying a tow car: 'any Airstream loving car dealers reading this
list??')
