Shelby/ Spearco used to (maybe still do) make a computer
controlled water injection add on system. I believe it had a pump (or some
other way to force in the water) unlike the water vapor system previously
mentioned.
A fellow who did consulting work for GM in Mesa Arizona (and
also worked for Doug Roe, a former fuel induction engineer and turbo charger
expert at Chevrolet - designed the turbo Corvair in the mid 50s) used to put
these on motor homes to help them get up long grades. He used so much
water that he hooked them up to the motor home's fresh water tank!
