Ah-ha!  The dreaded hologram effect caused by build-up on the pads 
during polishing.  See my updated webpage on polishing:

I found the best way to recover is to use a cyclo polisher, Rolite 
"Polish" or NuVite S polish and cloth.  See here for more details:
