[VAC] Re: Swirl Marks

I am assuming you removed all the clear coat before using the Rolite
products. At first glance it appears you followed the the method I used
(ck my web site below, polishing section and see if it is not similar to
your process). About the best I can recommend is to polish again with
the AP300, and your orbital buffer. If you have access to using a
Cyclo dual headed polisher try it out. It works well with AP300 and
leaves fewer polish swirl marks. You will note in my polish report that
I used a sealer (from Rolite) which I liked very well and it reduced the
harshness of the mirror finish somewhat and the polish makrs are less
noticable in bright sunlight. Our old VAC friend Bill Scott always
advised us to remember what we are actually doing is polishing out
scratchs. In this case the more grandular pre-polish cuts well but leaves
a lot of scratch. The Metal Polish is finer and polishes out the
scratchs from the Pre-polish while the AP300 attacks the scratchs from
the Metal Polish, etc.. Key is to keep on polishing until you get the
finish you want. One observation I might make is that the metal finish
on the '79 airstreams is a tad bit softer then my '56 unit and my thought
is the polishing with the heavy pre-polish may have put in deeper
scratchs that you will just have to keep working at.
