[VAC] Metal Repair

While pulling the water heater on my 77 Argosy there was a lose piece of alum. angle that had been used as a brace that moved sideways just as I was almost all the way out with the heater.  It caught and tore the right and left side of the metal direct downward a few inches on each side.  Any recommendations on repairing this area before I install the new heater?
