[VAC] Wanted - Opinions on Intelli-Power and StatPower TrueCharge

Oliver,

There may be more to answering your question than the answer you asked us to give. <grin> If you are
only interested in the two devices on your subject line, then hit the delete button right now.

If you're reading this, you didn't touch the delete button. Okay, here's where I'm coming from. When
it was my turn to make the decision you are considering, I chose not to put in a new univolt nor a
new "anything else."

In our 1967 22' Safari, the original univolt still works. It is very efficient at boiling the two
batteries quickly if left turned on and ignored. BUT - we have two solar panels and a solar guard
controller. Most of the time, the univolt is turned off and we rely on the solar panels for
recharging the batteries.

On those occasions when we have an electric hookup and guests inside our trailer during an evening
of card playing, I turn on all the lights and the univolt (I installed an on/off switch so it's
convenient). When our guests leave, I turn off the univolt. We go to sleep with fully charged
batteries.

Granted, it's evident to me that our univolt is of an inferior design, but when used as described,
it is very satisfactory. AND -- it has been doing the same inferior job for 34 years. Not all those
years were vibration and jolt free. As for the manufacturer standing behind his product, the test of
time has spoken.

If your univolt is kaput, perhaps someone else on this list would like you to give it to them (for
S&H), so they can fix it up with $5 worth of parts and use it in their Airstream as described above.
For them, that would free up a sock full of $20 bills for a more critical purchase. You could be a
Good Samaritan.

Waste not, want not,

Terry
