Hey Dave,
    Outside of the problem of getting the tire past the hub and outside wheelwell, shock clearance would appear to be the next big issue.
Early 60's chassis on some models had nearly zero clearance for tall bias ply tires to clear the shock. I've even seen some outrageous modifications like cutting the upper shock dust cover to clear a tire on a '61 Flying Cloud.
