Pat:

      I think it's the brakes that warm up, not the controller.  But, your 
situation seems backwards from what I've seen - your brakes loosen up after 
a few stops.  Mine started out ok last summer, then began to lock up tight 
when even a little braking was applied; I ruined one tire.  The literature 
I have from Tekonsha indicated that braking tended to be more aggressive 
with warm brakes than with cold ones.
