[VAC] Re: Towing a 1968 17' Caravel

Jeff,

Stay off the interstate....yes, I'm serious!!! It sounds as if your Ranger may be a little under powered for that trailer "in my opinion". I've driven a 4.0 liter Ranger and they have a good bit of power, but I don't know about the 3.0 liters. AT THE VERY LEAST, you would want an anti-sway device (I use the friction type), load distribution bars AND pack as light as possible. Very little water in the tank, etc. My '67 Caravel weighs 2975 loaded but it has the factory installed Armstrong A/C and I carry everything in the world with me! I have an original sales ad for the Caravel that says it weighs 2250 (with no A/C) so I must have a lot of heavy stuff!
