[VAC] 02/25/01 Sunday - EEWCRC

"Exploring East & West of the Colorado River Caravan"

Sunday morning's "all you can eat and drink champagne brunch" ($17 for 2) was across the street at
the Silverton Hotel and Casino. Had it not been for our group going here and this being a social
event, it's unlikely we'd do this on our own. We are light eaters, have always been on the slim
side and can't do justice to a buffet brunch. But, we enjoy socializing and leisure conversation.

We had read of an outstanding conservatory filled with flowers at the Bellagio Hotel & Casino.
Parking was simple and extremely convenient on the roof where parking spots were big enough for our
Van and space was aplenty for maneuvering our rascal. The flower and art show was overwhelming to
us. We had never experienced displays of this magnitude in hotels.

Although we play and wager while in the casinos, the money spent is still greater than the money won
- but we have a good time with our small bets. When we start winning, we increase our wager a
little. Experienced Las Vegas visitors advised us to set aside an exact amount to wager each day and
to stop when it's gone. Made sense to us.

The entrance to Caesar's Palace parking lot had a big sign showing - Height limit 14' - which we
followed with the Van. Almost immediately, there was another big sign showing - Height limit 8' -
which we followed into the parking garage. No sooner had I made the turn into the garage than
another sign showed - Height limit 6'6" - and there was no place to go except straight ahead. Cars
were piling up behind us as we crept along, looking for an escape hatch. Luckily, a spot was open
one car length before the 6' sign. It was a good thing Sandie had worn her necklace of clovers and
Caesar's Palace tee shirt.

Getting from the parking garage to Caesar's Palace required crossing a street full of heavy traffic,
taking the elevator to the 3rd floor, walking the length of a football field and taking another
elevator back down to the ground level. Once inside, it was a spectacular place for shopping.
Statues (Gladiator characters) came to life on the hour and "movie stars" shopped here (didn't see
any). The ceilings changed with the time of day and outside weather conditions. The little shops
were extremely attractive. In one clothing store, we could have bought 100% cotton shirts for $65
each. The afternoon show (Atlantic Rising) was awesome.

This evening, we met a guy with a glass eye. He didn't tell us - it just came out in the
conversation.
