[VAC] Re: 50 amp service
No, the 50-amp service is still 115 VAC and will not
harm your trailer; it's just rated for a higher load. I stayed in a
campground in Moab last summer that had only 50-amp service available to
us; they provided an adapter, at no charge. However, you should be
aware that if your trailer does not have breakers/fuses installed, the
50-amp breaker at the pedistal will allow more than the 30-amp load, and
will not trip to protect you against shorts and other overload
disasters. That's why home codes don't allow you to extend a 20-amp
circuit with wire rated for 15-amp service, but does allow the
inverse.
