I think tossing the pressure relief valve is not such a good idea. The
water heater might be bypassed so its pressure/temperature relief valve
may not protect the plumbing, especially the water tank. The relief
valve at the regulator weeping can be a problem in that relief valve or
the regulator failing to regulate. Old regulators do fail in that mode
because the valve seat wears and they can't shut off. Some older designs
didn't seal off completely so when there was no consumption the pressure
would rise. Had that happen to my house LP regulators when the new
furnace didn't run a pilot. New regulators fixed the problem.
