Springs are meant to flex, usually to soften a ride. In the case of an equalizer hitch the spring bars apply reverse spring action to force the load at the hitch ball away to the front of the tow vehicle and back to the trailer axles. You wouldn't want them to flex alot, but they do flex some. Charlie
