Jason - I painted the interior of an airstream with semi gloss latex
and had a similar experience - after several days of rain, condensation
formed and ran down the walls - i let the interior dry out and
repainted it with "flat" latex instead of "semi-gloss" - that fixed the
condesation problem - the flat finish seems to absorb the moisture
without any noticable bad consequences - the paint has been there 2-3
years and has not peeled, flaked, etc.. - i have noticed that if a
water leak runs down the interior wall it will leave a stain on the
flat finish paint(i just fixed the leak, primed over the stain and
repainted it - worked fine) - i don't know about the oily residue on
yours - maybe the paint did'nt have time/temperature to "cure" - hope
