[VAC] Broken trailer jack - help

Jon, if you're lucky, it'll be a simple remove and replace with the same size jack. BUT ===

While you are at it, look at the hole in the A frame for a "sleeve" that's rusted in place. A long
shot, but it it's there, you have more than one choice. If you want to put in a jack with more
capacity or features than your present jack, some welding may be involved to remove the sleeve as
well as some drilling involved to increase the size of the three bolt holes to accomodate the new
jack. Of course, if there's no sleeve, any welder can increase the hole size.

Why would you replace your jack with one having different features? Suppose you are at an Airstream
Rally and someone is selling one for a fraction of what you'd pay for a standard jack. Been there,
done that - no contest. Remember, if you go electric, use a fat wire - none of that skinny stuff.

PS - While here in Yuma, our clear coat has begun peeling off chunks of saran wrap like flakes. Not
being satisfied with only watching the clear coat fall off, I've been inspecting the exact areas
closely. Upshot is I'm now recaulking all the seams on my flaking roof.

With my trusty lobster pick, each seam is precisely picked clean of all old caulk. My smooth, but
dull putty knife is great for precisely scraping off the nearby caulk and decaying clear coat, 1/4
inch above and below each seam. And finally, my dremel with its 3/4" bristle brush (part #403) is
doing the final smooth finishing off of each seam prior to recaulking next week.

The lack of humidity and constant daily sun means there's no hurry. What I don't finish today can be
continued tomorrow.
