Jack the tongue way up, using another jack (with the trailer wheels well
chocked) and turn the crank backwards to lower the pieces. I suspect
when the lower part falls out you will find the screw or the nut threads
stripped or worn out from lack of lubrication. The easiest fix is a new
jack. It may be welded in place, though it might be bolted. Its probably
still a pretty much standard trailer jack. Check the pages at
www.northerntool.com. In the mean time you can use a high lift jack to
lift the tongue for hitching.
