OOPS too early in the morning! 

Turn the crank in the direction to raise the tongue (after jacking with
another jack to get the post to come out. 

Easier yet, take off the crank handle, and the works should fall out the
bottom. Its conceivable that some modern jack guts will fit. Grease the
threads well before assembly for longer life. Relubricate at intervals,
(when the jack gets stiff).
