[VAC] white top

Hey all - looking for a purist opinions here.

I've decided that my restoration will be 96% original.
 (1960 Tradewind frame-off) 

I'm looking for opinions - I'm thinking about painting
the top portion of my trailer white to do an early
60's Caravan restoration - i.e. that's what many did
in the African caravan, Capetown to Cairo etc.  

I'm wondering how the purists out there feel about
this "period" modification?
