[VAC] Re: Replacing carpet.



The smoke odor is in more than just the old carpet.  Scrub everything!  Ceiling,
walls, cabinets - inside and out, and get rid of any other fabric, upholstery or
foam (these things absorb odors and are really impossible to deodorize
completely).  Use something that will cut the grease like one of those citrus
cleaners or a solution of ammonia, detergent (without bleach) and hot water.  I
spray it on with a garden sprayer, let it soak and drip and wipe it off...You'll
be amazed at how much crud comes off, and how much cleaner and better it looks
and smells.  Use lots of ventilation with the ammonia!
