polishing

Hi,  We've rejoined the VAC after an absence of awhile and I know there
was discussion a long time ago about polishing airstreams.  We have a
'68 Caravelle which we want to polish.  My questions is what is the
recommended buffer to use?   If we buy one should we be looking for
amps, diameter or what.  The ones we've seen are usually for polishing
cars and don't seem powerful enough.  Is a grinder the same thing as a
buffer?  If anyone has polished their airstream maybe you could
recommend a  brand.  Thanks for the help.  (We also considered renting
one, but the length of time it might take probably would cost so much
that buying would be a better option.)
