[VAC] Re: Repair of dent

Sissy,

I also have a 1961 Bambi and several years ago during a huge wind storm a branch
hit the left front dome and made a large dent. However it was between the panel
edges and there was no crease. I was able to successfully pull it out with a
suction cup. You wouldn't ever know that there was a huge dent there to look at
it today. And this has been after many thousands of towing miles since I pulled
the dent out.

When I purchased my 1972 31ft. Sovereign it had a dent in the right rear just
above the bumper. Sounds like your exact location. It had a slight crease,
however I was still able to successfully pull out 95% of this dent and one would
have to look directly at it to notice it.

I've helped out other Airstream owners with their dents over the years using
this method.

I went to an auto body supply store and had to order my suction cup. Bondo makes
an inexpensive, under $5.00 I believe, suction cup that others have successfully
used. You might have to order it from out of their supply book.

When you attempt to use a suction cup to remove a dent make sure the surface is
clean so you won't scratch it. Also have the edges of the suction cup moist so
as to give you more suction "pulling power."

I've attended some of Bud Cooper's dent removal training sessions and there are
other more involved ways to remove dents as well. However what I just said is
what I would suggest that you try first.

Good luck and let me know how you do.
