I have Dish Network and I asked them specifically if I could do this.  They said
yes and I have a listing of the angle above the horizon as well as azimuth for
each zip code in the Nation.  I have watched others do it and they buy a meter
from radio shack or camping world and when they have the dish close, the meter
lights up.  Pretty simple.  On the subject of a dish for traveling, I have
learned not to buy the big self aligning dish as you nearly always are parked
under a tree.  Get a portable tri-pod and 100 foot of coax.  I plan to buy a
spare dish from camping world to use on the road and leave my roof mounted one
alone. Then all you need do is take your receiver along.  You should get all the
programing you have signed up for wherever you are.
