Technology isn't always the answer. The biggest changes have been in the control aspect of refers. They have taken a simple process and complicated it with electronics. The current refers are not a trouble free bunch. The RM100 is simplicity it's self. It is still the longest in production refer Dometic has ever made. The electric heating element circuit consist of the heater, the thermostat, and a toggle switch. That's it. The heating element should read approximately 48 ohms between the leads. It is available. I strongly suspect the heating element is kaput. As for the gas side, same thing, simple simple. The thermostat is available. Charlie
