Re: [VAC] 14x14 vent caps

My vent cap doesn't really have hinges as such, just flexible supports.
I drilled out the two pop rivets that attached those supports to the
nuts on the screws. This cap is a formed in one piece with round
corners. The gasket was a flat gasket glued to a flat place on the cover
that mates with a flat flange on top the inner part of the hatch. While
I had the cap off the clean the glue off (M-1 worked well) I used hammer
and wood blocks to flatten the hail dings. I applied a D shaped gasket
about 5/8" wide, the same one I used on the door. Then I used four new
pop rivets. It all works fine with a new bug screen. It stayed dry
during a four hour thunderstorm last Sunday morning in the camp ground.

I suspect there some e type snap rings on the bottom of the screws just
inside the lower end there I can't see them. The screws would only have
to drop 1/32" to let the top of the screw swing out of the hole. I
didn't get out a mirror to look for the snap ring. My battery drill was
closer so I drilled out the pop rivets.
