Bill:

I appreciate your response (notwithstanding its unpleasantly edgy tone), and 
I did get your earlier response, but I am afraid you are giving me apples 
when I am asking the list for oranges.  If you will read my request with 
precision, I am asking if anyone out there has an ORIGINAL vent cap -- not a 
plastic one, not a fabricated one, not one that approximates an A/S cap, BUT 
THE ACTUAL THING, perhaps from a salvaged unit.  

Now, if my query to the good folks on this list fails, then yes, I will 
resort to another type of cover as a fallback.  But there are no decent metal 
fabrication shops in my area, and I already knew about Camping World and 
Fantastic Fans.  I will go that route if I must, but I was goin' fishing on 
the VAC list first for an authentic part...that's what the "V" in the VAC is 
all about, right?

Again, thanks for all your help, and please know that more than one of your 
posts has been printed and resides in my "Airstream" file.  But next time, if 
one of my e-mails irritates you, as this one apparently has, please just 
delete it and don't respond...I will gladly lose a little information, even 
from a guru like yourself, in the name of list comity rather than frown at my 
monitor after reading the condescending tone of your response at 10pm after a 
very long workday.
