[VAC] monomatic toilet questions

Hey everbody,

I've off line for a while taking a trip and finishing up the work on the
Safari before its long journey to our property in New Mexico. We are
leaving August 17. So in the spirit of leaving the best until last - I'm
now checking out the sewage system. I have the original instructions for
the monomatic toilet. It directs you to "charge" the system with 4
gallons of water and then sprinkle in the monochem T-5 chemical which is
supposed to last about a week.

Is this chemical still available? And do I really have to use it? I
would rather use something more ecologically friendly. Phred sez to use
bacterial agents. In general, what is everyone using to clean black
water tanks and your preferrred ongoing treatment?
