You can still clean the flue. It must be done from the bottom and from the
outside access. When ever using a mechanical cleaner on a flue take care not
to knock the flue baffle off or out of position. If you do the performance
of the refer will be significantly reduced. The flue baffle hangs from a
wire attached at the top of the chimney. It is positioned to concentrate
heat at the orifice inside the coolant tube. Resetting the flue baffle would
require removing the refer to reset it. Suggest you try blowing the chimney
out with compressed air first. Of course with compressed air you need to be
careful not to aim it at the burner assembly.
