Tom and Jim,
I just went through the deal of getting the cap off my tank. I wound up 
taking the filler off the trailer, not hard to do. There are only four 
screws and the hose clamp holding it on. I then could get a good grip on it 
with tools and get it off. Be careful not to smash the lower part of the 
tube. If you apply a small amount of cooking oil to the threads once in a 
while it won't stick again.
