Wayne - installing an air conditioner in the middle vent of your 55 may
present some problems - i think those units built before the early 60's
 did not have any AC support structure installed in them by the factory
this could result in a collapsed roof section if some sort of extra
support is not added in that area - also they are not prewired for an
AC - you may want to consider installing a floor mounted type unit
mentioned on the list recently - can't remember name but believe it was
made in Japan - i'm sure someone out there can give you the specifics -
sounds like you've got yourself a very nice unit - good luck with your
