I can't directly vouch for this info, but I just read the other day that
Airstream first started using clearcoat in 1964.

One other tidbit on the subject of dates:  the first factory grey water
tanks were installed in 1973, so sez the same source on the Internet.

This info comes from http://www.calldon.com/air.htm, a pretty good site with
lots of Airstream history.  Takes a while to load, though.
