Re: [VAC] aluminum sheet repair

Mindy, welcome to the list. When you say holes, are they just holes
from missing rivets? Are they bullet holes? Are they dents and rock
holes? Repairing the exterior skin is a real job, requiring some
expertise. You have many choices, like push the dent out from the
inside, plug the hole with a large rivet, patch it with another piece of
aluminum, use a "puller", or replace the whole section or segment.
Depending on your location, your best bet is go to an authorized
Airstream Dealer, or even better , go to your local Airport and talk to
a good A and P mechanic, (airframe and power plant) who is familiar
with aluminum repair. Sometimes a good sheet metal man at your local
sheet metal shop can work aluminum, or fabricate doors, covers etc.
That's a start, now Mindy, how bad is that 55??
