Dave and others,  many early sixties and some late fifties, (I think)
had the long Battery Box, behind the LP tanks and just below the front
window.  It takes a 12 volt battery group, 3ET.  You can buy that
battery at almost any good battery store, Wal-Mart, Sam's ($49), and
Sears for (59) and a 3 year guarantee.  It has lots of reserve.  Don't
mess with those little lawnmower batteries.  If you want to move the
battery inside, get a sealed Optima, or Lifetime, or other sealed
battery, so it doesn't emit hydrogen gas, and other fumes.   I just
bought a 3ET for my Bambi, from Sam's............$49 and it works fine.
