Motor speed controller is what is used on a ceiling fan to vary the speed by
lowering the voltage.  Lets say your univolt is putting out 15 volts to
fully charged batteries in your coach.  With the speed control you drop the
input voltage to the univolt by 10 percent from 120 volt to 12 volts less or
108 volts a result of this is you will drop the secondary voltage by 10
percent or 15  volts will decrease to 13.5 volts which probably be a good
constant voltage that will not overcharge the battery but you can vary by
any percentage say 15 percent which will result in charging voltage of 12.5
volts which will definitely not harm a 12 volt battery unfortunately a
univolt does not regulate voltage very well but with this device you can
obtain in voltage you like and will not harm the univolt because all it is
is transformer with a built in rectifer and the transformer could care less
what input voltage is as long as you don't exceed 130 volts or the current
rating .
