Re: [VAC] Floors and Countertops

Don't know about radiant heat/pergo style parquetry flooring but we had
pergo wood grained flooring installed in our 30' 1966 Sovereign. After
removing the old tile floor and seeing all the dirt between the tiles I was
thinking of replacing it with linoleum - something with a continuous surface
and easily cleanable. But because that would have entailed laying down a
subfloor at a cost of around $400 for materials and labor, I looked at cork.
Cork doesn't require a perfect subfloor and is supposed to be durable. What
convinced me not to go with cork was that a large corner of a sample piece
chipped off.

The pergo looks great. It floats so will flex with movement and didn't
require a smooth subfloor. It was laid so the grain is crosswise to the
trailer and not in closets or cupboards. I cut up linoleum pieces to fit in
those places. One disadvantage of pergo is its height. When putting back
the furniture we had to raise the table so it would open up. The grill at
the foot of the fridge doesn't close perfectly either. It cost close to
$900 but is attractive and supposed to last a long time.
