[VAC] random redecorating
Sherry,
Saw the cork flooring at jade mountain, know nothing
about it, was wondering how it would live with life in
the boonies. Have some cork that I intend to put on the
walls in the sleeping area, kind of a sound deadening,
insulation, aesthetic, separation from those cold walls
on the shoulder thing. Should look warm and inviting as
well. I'm giving good consideration to doing the safari
look throughout...some brass, some distressed leather,
canvas (and maybe a head on the wall, my boss's
perhaps?). Does anyone know where I can put my paws on
some canvas like they use in the off-white wall tents? I
think that would look all warm and cozy and really help
the "cocoon" feel that an AS has...plus being the lighter
earth tones, it would tend to lighten the place up a bit.
Have a twin bed model and am working plans for converting
one to a wider double bed/futon couch while eliminating
the other and converting it to drawers and what have you.
Some prior nutcase already painted the insidea disgusting
white so am giving strong consideration to doing some of
the "sponge painting" thing to it in the pine forest mode
and covering the bathroom fiberboard walls in some
outdoorsy wallpaper. Some scotch pine needles tucked away
in a potpourri heater thingy with the stereo whispering
outdoor night noises with soft guitar and piano should a
least approach the feel of being "out there". Am also
looking at the idea of doing the counter tops in
"riverstone" finish stuff (ok, I know it has a name, but
it escapes me at the momoment). The brass propane lamp is
already in place and should do nicely with what I have in
mind. I think I will put a 12vdc florescent tube light
over the bedroom/rear bath header and cover it
(loosely)in an biege cloth to hide it and to get more of
a "glow" than a true light bulb would give. IF the
couch/futon thing works (bedroom) I'd like to rip out the
front couch and put in a "reading chair" with a waxed
paper type lampshaded lamp next to it. Also, a VERY
strong desire is to build in a rock fountain/bubbler
thing with a few plants in it...and maybe a trout(?){all
the while keeping it light in weight}.
rambling on and on,
Ralph
